It is a 2016 Hindi comedy-drama film written and directed by Gauri Shinde. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kunal Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release on 25 November 2016.Majid dreams of becoming a movie director but can't seem to get his calling card made because he doesn't have the money for it. Zindagi dreams of becoming an airline pilot but can't seem to get her foot in the door because she doesn't belong to an affluent family or circle of friends who can help her out. When these two people finally meet each other, they end up becoming their own 'Good Samaritans' to each other and discover that their secrets are what keeps them apart. Finally, after many years of acting together, the two act separately in their own films. The film explores loyalty between friends, love and acceptance within society's social barriers.
The music for the film is composed by Pritam ChakrabortyUpon its release, the film received mixed reviews. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave it 2.5 out of 5 stars stating that "It's a good attempt by director Gauri Shinde to explore friendship themes under one roof but her failure to connect with her audience is glaring". Koimoi gave the film 2 stars out of 5 and stated that "the movie is not disappointing but nor is it original in its content. Dear Zindagi is a decent watch, much like the lead character". Shubhra Gupta from The Indian Express gave it 2 out of 5 stars and called it a "flawed film".The film has received critical acclaim for its music. "Tum Hi Ho" won a Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for Pritam.
